Summary: James teaches that God does not tempt people to sin, but that temptation comes from within. He encourages believers to submit to God, resist the devil, and draw near to God.
James discusses the value of trials and true religion. He then moves to the proper response in trials. Today, vv12-18 fits within the “Transition” & “Treasure” of what James discusses with our options in Trials. Men were called (Greek: dokimos). This is the word used here for the Christian as he is to be seen by the world; he is to be proved not as a counterfeit.
The overarching theme in James helps us discover that a Faith in Jesus will produce an active work in Jesus - Living Coram Deo.
