Phil started out homebrewing in the basement of his hairdressing salon in Leeds, before launching Play Brew in 2017, initially as a Contract Brewer. A successful crowdfunding campaign in Oct 2018 enabled Play to open Middlesbrough's first Craft brewery and taproom in 2019.
