Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss the martial arts movie Mortal Kombat: Annihilation from 1997. After winning the Mortal Kombat tournament, Shao Khan (Brian Thompson) cheats and invades Earth anyway. Our heroes have only a week to save the world before its taken over by the baddies from the Outworld. Rayden (James Remar) spouts out nuggets of wisdom while making a sacrifice involves him getting a costume change and a haircut.
Most of the cast from the original opted not to return for this sequel. Despite being directed by veteran cinematographer John R. Leonetti and having a heftier budget, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation looks and feels cheap. The plot is a muddled mess, but there are more fight scenes than the original. This flick is amusing in all the wrong ways.
