Did you know that stress is learnt by the brain 🧠? There are certain parts of our brain especially the amygdala that respond to our environmental stress 😫 If you put yourself in a chronic stress state then this part of the brain starts to adapt and grow new connections. This essentially means that it then becomes easier to trigger the same state over and over again. 🔁 We see very similar changes in the brain in people that have chronic pain or fatigue syndromes. 😴 What the brain is doing is sensible, it’s trying to make the patterns efficient and easy. However the only thing it’s making easy is your ability to stress yourself out and make yourself sick. Current levels of stress are allowing our brains to rise the levels of adrenaline and cortisol in our bloodstream 🩸 Defects of this on our boat on mental and physical health are astounding and have been linked with certain disorders such as heart disease, cancer and even a weak immune system. But it’s not all bad news because there is something you can do about it. Help reassure other people, take regular exercise, eating adequate diet, look after your mental well-being by doing something you really love doing. Improved health is simple but not always easy.
