This week‘s poem is the beautiful ‘Footprints in the sand by Margaret Fishback Powers.
Margaret Fishback Powers is the author of the world-famous "Footprints" poem. When she wrote the poem back in 1964 she was a young woman seeking direction in her life, travelling the world as an evangelist for more than twenty-five years.
Little did she know then how famous Footprints in the sand would become, and how it would go on to become such a well known symbolic spiritual poem. It depicts a person who sees two pairs of footprints in the sand, one of which belonged to God and another to him or herself. At some point, the two pairs of footprints dwindle to one, and that is where God carried the protagonist.
Footprints in the Sand is very special to me and people everywhere because it tells about our unique relationship with God.
