Emma Straub's All Adults Here takes place in an upstate New York small college town, Clapham. After an acquaintance is struck down by a bus, Astrid Strick decides to come out to her three children and introduce her partner, Birdie. However Astrid and her children will also answer questions about which grievances have mattered the most to them. Unfortunately everyone's answers are not the same. Not for Elliot, the eldest and the one developing buildings and businesses that challenge Astrid's "Shop local stay local" initiative. Not for Porter, who as a goat farmer wants to become a mother by herself. And certainly not for youngest son Nicky who himself is making mistakes with his daughter Cecilia. Will they be able to come together or will they continue the same cycles?
