Description

Mateo Askirapor’s Black Buck is a self-aware and on the nose satire about race in the workplace, the toxicity of tech-start ups, and a plethora of other current and relatable issues millennials, Generation Y and Z face today. Darren is a twenty-two year old supervisor at Starbucks but everyone around him wants him to want more for himself. Fate takes a turn when he impresses the founder of the latest start-up company and is offered a position. Before he knows it, Darren transforms into “Buck”, a star at work. The thing is, the brightest stars burn out the fastest. With his new success, comes new challenges and adversity such as his superior Clyde who seems hell-bent on destroying him and his social life all but goes up in smoke as he becomes distanced from his ailing mother, girlfriend, best friend, and all the colorful characters in his neighborhood. Will “Buck’s” life in the fast lane come to a crashing halt or will Darren be able to make amends and find his inner peace and freedom?
