When she can no longer find answers from her faith, Gifty turns to science to find out the causes of her family's losses. Her older brother died from his addiction to OxyContin, her mother sunk into depression not once but twice, and even attempted suicide. Now that her mother has been placed in her care, she tries her best to wake her out of her depression and finds herself dreaming of the salvation her faith once promised her.
