Genuine Part 1: Devotion

Original Air Date: 2024.08.11
We live in a time and world where almost everything we see, read, and hear is fake... but this is not a new problem. For decades, and even now, items like clothing, jewelry, shoes and other things are copied and passed off as the genuine article. How can you tell if it’s real or fake?
Even in the Christian faith it can be difficult to tell between a genuine Christian and one that is fake. How do you know? The question for all of us is, do we want to be a genuine Christ follower or will we be satisfied just looking like one?
Most people genuinely want to follow Christ and live like He did. We want to enjoy the fruit of faithful obedience, we want to know how to handle persecution, trials and temptation, we want to know how to study the Bible, but it takes work, perseverance and most of all – love. But it is here where the decision to be genuine is made. Are we willing to do the work or will we be satisfied with just the label?
Over the next six weeks in our series, “Genuine”, we will go through the understanding and steps of becoming a true Christ follower. We will learn what it means to be devoted to Him, how to learn and study the Bible as well as apply it to life. We will learn why Christians are still faced with temptation and build a plan to endure and overcome them.
