In our times, most top companies of the world have something to do with the information. Information makes money. However, the information does not have to be factual. As we see on social media, so much false information is circulated while making money.

What about the truth? Does the truth make money? A Bible of decent quality often costs less than an 18-pack Budweiser. You can buy the official Catechism of the Catholic Church even at the price of a 6-pack beer.

Now, you might think the truth is cheap. No, it is not cheap at all. When citizens recognize the moral truth and follow it, they can save a huge amount of social cost. Imagine that we do not have to spend so many socio-economic resources against crimes, frauds, abuses, bullies, and disputes. The more honest, benevolent and peaceable citizens a society has, the more capital and resources it can channel to constructive developments and advancements.

On the other hand, when the truth is rejected and ignored, a society eventually pays much more than money and gold can afford – that is, human lives. In other words, falsehood costs not only money but also the lives of people. For example, sexual immoralities are closely related to the breakdown of families. And society must spend resources for the derivatives of the family breakdown. But money or government assistance cannot heal the wounded lives of people. When the moral truth is rejected, some people directly lose their lives – as in abortion and euthanasia. The falsehood can literally cost human lives.

We do not buy air. But that does not mean air has no value. If you refuse to take the air, you will die. We do not trade truth for money. However, when we ignore it, we will face miserable destruction.
