Description

Joining me for Ep. 7 is fittingly seven different guests, all of which have I am connected to through family ties. The episode brings a new and exciting flavor to The Sports Tea with JD. Joining the show is all six of my cousins, Hannah (6'0), Sam (6'7), & Hank Hutcheson (6'5) - and Andrew (6'10), Leslie (6'5), & Mary Grace Golden (5'8), along with Hannah's boyfriend Nathan Morgan. Only 7% of high school athletes move on to play at the college level, and only 2% of high school athletes end up playing at the D1 level (ScholarshipStats.com). With that being said, it's pretty impressive four of my six cousins played (or are signed to play) sports at the college level with the two ladies (Hannah and Leslie) playing at the D1 level.  An interesting note as well is that all four of my cousins who are involved in college athletics were graduating in some way or shape this semester. Andrew (Vanderbilt), Hannah (Lipscomb Nursing), Leslie (Samford), and Hank (Lipscomb Academy) all graduated this semester and share how the Covid-19 global pandemic impacted their big graduation moment they had worked for. On top of that, Mary Grace (Harding University class of 2022) was sent home early from her study abroad trip in Greece due to the coronavirus outbreak and she shares a piece of that story.  Topics we discuss include memories from playing college ball, fun stories from our younger years, our successful relatives, how we are passing the time during quarantine, a 1990 Battle of the Boulevard CD (feat. 22-year-old Philip Hutcheson), and a Wiffle ball line-drive to the face we will never forget. You don't want to miss this episode if you are looking for nearly 40 jam-packed minutes of wild stories and enjoyable cousin banter. This one puts the "tea" in The Sports Tea.  Andrew Golden (Freed-Hardeman University, NAIA) - 3 basketball seasons and 1 season of Track and Field (2014-2018) Hannah Hutcheson (Lipscomb University, NCAA D1) - One season of volleyball (2015-16) Nathan Morgan (Lipscomb University, NCAA D1) - 5 seasons of XC & track and field (2015-2020) Leslie Golden (Samford University, NCAA D1) - 4 seasons of basketball (2016-2020) Hank Hutcheson (Trevecca University, NCAA D2) - Committed to play basketball (2020-Present)
