In Galatians 5:24-25, Paul says believers, because they belong to Christ, have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires and have, instead, chosen to walk in step with the Spirit. "Since We Belong to Christ" is a song of prayer, asking God to help us in doing as Paul suggests, crucifying our sinful nature and keeping in step with God.
Since We Belong to Christ
Verse 1:
Since we belong to Christ we have crucified the flesh
with its passions and its desires.
We have put to death the sinful, earthly things
and we’ve learned to walk in God’s ways!
We have set our hearts above where Christ sits now
at the right hand of our God!
Verse 2:
Since we belong to Christ we have crucified the flesh
with its passions and its desires.
We have been rescued from the dark and deadly things,
been redeemed by the grace of our God!
We have set our minds on high and holy things,
on the things which lead to life!
Bridge:
We will walk by the Spirit. We will step where he steps.
We will heed every whisper of our Lord.
We will live by his leadings. We will go where he goes,
Even unto the ends of the earth!
