A once-muckraking newsroom of counter-culture idealists now struggles with dwindling finances and journalistic disillusionment. Is it every newspaper across the world? No! It’s this week’s movie—Between The Lines, AKA the best (and only?) alt-weekly newspaper movie ever made. Jacob and Tara talk about how eerily this 1977 Joan Micklin Silver film mirrors their own newspaper experience, as well as asking for raises, weirdos walking in off the street, and Jeff Goldblum as Jeff Goldblum. As the tagline says, “it’s fun, adventure and romance, all on $75 a week.”
Box Office Bylines is heard every Tuesday on NowhereFM—pirate radio to ease the isolation. Listen live at nowherefm.net
