Mortals seem to have often sought the wisdom of the heavenly beings that watch over their lives. In Ancient Greece, there seemed to be an oracle on every street corner, speaking for a god that controlled any aspect of daily life.
Of all the oracles, though, the Oracle of Delphi, where Apollo spoke through the trance of the Pythia, brought pilgrims from far and wide looking for advice and consul.
Menoetes explains to his grandson, Delophon, the workings of this Oracle. Who was the Pythia? Who spoke to the questions posed by pilgrims? How did the answers received change the lives of those who asked?
