This is a fresher essay, written in late March, 2025, dated by a quick reference to the so-called “Signalgate” event.
Internet wisdom says I should make sure to get this online as soon as possible after an event I’m referencing, but I don’t think that’s necessarily true in my case. I’m not trying to get views because I’m talking about the latest squirrel climbing the tree in the garden.
This essay is actually about accountability, how some people are held accountable for their actions while others get off Scott free. How a lot of legislation is prohibitive and a lot of people get caught and punished for breaching those prohibitions while the ones making the prohibitions can gleefully ignore them. And maybe just a little bit of “Question Authority” tossed in to date myself.
