With sinful leaders, injustice all around and an invading army, most Jewish prophets cry out to the people to repent and turn to God. Not Habakkuk. He complains to God. And he stands with his hands on hips waiting for God to reply. And God does reply indeed. But he dislikes God’s reply and complains once again. And back and forth he goes with God.
At some point, Habakkuk begins to see things differently...that maybe there’s more to what’s going on than he realizes.
