In response to the above queries by Sai Kiran, Dr John Watts explained that he can safely wear a cap while using Minoxidil provided he cleans his scalp daily with water or mild shampoos and lets it dry before application of the topical lotion.
“If you neglect in maintaining scalp hygiene and then continue to wear caps like that it may lead to disastrous consequences. Dirt can mix with sweat and oil formed on the scalp and it may lead to the formation of dandruff-like flakes and cause infection on the scalp,” explained Dr John Watts.
Chitti Darling asks: Sir, I have learnt on social media that using Japanese Sakura Shampoo can aid in promoting hair growth. Is it true? Please explain.
In response to the above queries by Chitti Darling, Dr John Watts explained warned him not to get misled by tall claims advertised by hair care products manufacturers on social media.
“Today, you may get lured by a Japanese product and tomorrow you will come across newer products such as hair oil from Indonesia, Kenya or Ghana. One should not blindly believe them,” advised Dr John Watts.
While answering his specific query on the Japanese shampoo, Dr John Watts said that the shampoo interacts with the scalp for 30 seconds to 1 minute and it is foolhardy to believe that in this short time, it can help magically to help one’s hair growth.
“We tend to see baby hair growth results after 5–6 months of regular use of Minoxidil. Then how can you expect that shampoo application for 30 seconds can help grow new hair on your scalp? One should not expect immediate results from such products,” informed Dr John Watts.
