Mohan Shiva asks: Sir, I have just started using Finasteride. When can I expect results? Please explain.
In his response, Dr John Watts tells Mohan Shiva that unlike general medication for fever or any minor conditions, the results for hair treatment take time. There can’t be any comparison.
“If you take Minoxidil lotion, the results start showing in the third month in the form of baby hair. In the first 15 days, there could be hair fall and it comes under control in a one-and-half month or two months period. These results show in the third month,” said Dr John.
He explained that similar is the case with Finasteride. “The results may show after a one-and-half month or two-month period,” he explained.
However, Dr John Watts warned him against using Finasteride on his own without a prescription or consulting a dermatologist.
Koti Kotesh asks: Sir, I have started using a keratin hair mask. Is it good for hair? Please explain.
In his response, Dr John Watts tells Koti Kotesh that using hair masks is generally good for hair. “The advantage of hair masks is that they can revive dehydrated hair and bring lustre to the hair. The lustreless hair also gets repaired in the process and it makes them look healthy and shining,” explained Dr John Watts.
He added that the keratin hair mask adds protein and brings a smooth feel to the hair.
Good Boy Gaming asks: Sir, if I use Finasteride-Minoxidil lotion along with Finasteride 1 mg tab and opt for growth factor concentrate (GFC) treatment every 20 days, will it be helpful for hair growth? Will there be any side effects?
In his response, Dr John Watts tells Good Boy Gaming that instead of Finasteride-Minoxidil lotion if it is combined with Finasteride 1 mg and GFC treatment at a gap of 20 days — and all taken together — it would boost hair growth. He said that it is scientifically proven.
“In general, there won’t be any side effect if they are used combinedly or together but in case you experience any side effect, which is rare, you need to consult your dermatologist for expert opinion,” advised Dr John Watts.
