Description

Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me your way, that I may know you, that I may continue to find favor in your sight. And see that this nation is your people.” (Exodus 33:13)

Moses was leading the Israelites towards the Promised Land. The people of Israel have rebelled against God and aroused His wrath. Moses was stressed out, to say the least, over the prospect of leading this “stiff-necked people” (Exodus 33:3). Moses needed to know what he can do, and how can he continue to know what he should do in the future. The English Hebrew scholar S R Driver summarized Exodus 33:13 in this manner: that I may understand what your nature and character is, and shape my petitions accordingly, so that I may find grace in your sight, and my future prayers may be answered”

For the journey ahead. You may be faced with challenges so huge that you are uncertain how to overcome them. There may be issues or areas in your life you long to see breakthrough. You may have been praying for healings, financial breakthrough, direction, family members, restoration of relationships, salvation of others, church, ministries, nation, revival, etc. You find yourself amidst all these, you really are not sure how to go on praying anymore. How do you pray that your prayers might yield fruits.

Perhaps at a time such as this, we need to cry out to the Lord for His grace, His unmerited favour upon us, to show us His ways. We cannot go on praying on our assumption of what God wants to do in and with our lives, His Church and the nations. Perhaps we need to allow the Lord to bring new, fresh and deeper revelation of who He is, His heart and His ways. Be prepared to relinquish our old positions and mindset. When the Lord reveals whatever that is not pleasing to Him, be willing to humble ourselves, acknowledge our sins and repent from them.

Expect great things from God. Be willing to embrace the new, forget the old, so that you might step into the best the Lord has in store for you!

Prayer focus

  1. Thank the Lord that He has the best plan for us, to give us a future and a hope. Ask the Lord to reveal the way you should go in this coming year.
  2. Pray for deeper revelation from the Lord of who He is and shape your prayers (in all that you are petitioning and contending for) according to His character, His nature and His heart.
