Jesus's famous command, "love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31) is often easier said than done, especially when it comes to that neighbor across the fence or next door. Some people do admit it's often easier to love the "neighbor" across the ocean than the one across the road. Distance allows us to feel good about less involvement, but Jesus asks us to help where there is a need. That means knowing the need, and knowing the neighbor.
