Description

In this episode we speak with Brennan Robideaux, the Director of the pole vault documentary Born to Fly which follows the life of the world record holder Mondo Duplantis. We start off our conversation with how Brennan got into film making in the first place and the impact that sports documentaries, such as The Last Dance, have on people (1:30). We then answer the question, Why Mondo (7:40)? After that, Brennan tells us what really sets Mondo apart from other athletes and why he hasn't burnt out after competing in the same sport for over 15 years (17:00). We then get into his favorite moments of the film (25:00). Then, he breaks down some of the most exciting meets that he has caught on tape(30:45), including what it was like to see Mondo shatter the world record (40:50). Following that, we laugh about some filming difficulties that had along the way (41:50) and talk about the moment he is caught in a blizzard with two world record holders (46:40). We then conclude our discussion with the difficulties the pandemic brought and what it means for the release date of the movie (50:45).
