Say Yes to The Fruit of The Spirit (SYTTFS) Series.| PATIENCE| CHIMDI OHAHUNA.Beloved, Patience is the proof of our trust in God’s timing. Beloved, Patience is the proof of our trust in God’s timing. In Genesis 17:1 God told Abraham to walk before Him and be perfect, Abraham was ninety-nine years (99) old at this time, this was twenty-four (24) years after God promised him Isaac (a seed) Genesis 12:7.
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Genesis 17:1
And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
Genesis 12:7
___
We see that one year after this command was given to Abraham by God, Isaac was born Genesis 21:5. This makes us understand that perfection was the last criteria to be met by Abraham for God's promise to manifest in his life. From this truth we learn that God's greatest desire for us is not the manifestation of His promises in our lives, rather it is for us to become perfect.
And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
Genesis 21:5
____
The Hebrew word for perfect is tâmı̂ym it means complete, whole, entire, and sound; thus, any saint with these qualities is termed mature. For the saint, maturity is the point where the body is surrendered to the spirit, which is one with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is one with our spirit because He bears joint witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Romans 8:16
Maturity, therefore, is a state where our body is surrendered to the joint witness of the Holy Spirit with our spirit man, in that area where we pray in accordance with God's will. Thus, God's longing is for us to be mature because when maturity sets in manifestation is guaranteed.
_____
God waited for twenty-four (24) years before He commanded Abraham to be perfect, the reason for this is that maturity is achieved over time and not instantly. So if we must attain maturity we must be patient for TIME, God's word, and experiences to bring out God's best in us.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2Timothy 3:16-17

Beloved, let patience have her perfect work in you!
