These episodes are geared towards awakening the consciousness of "Say NO to the works of the flesh" in the body of Christ. The works of the flesh are all those fleshly/ carnal tendencies, attitudes, and mindsets that keep the believer employed and occupied. If we work for the flesh, we cannot work for the Holy Spirit.

When compared to other works of the flesh, Idolatry has employed and exploited most Christians, this includes some acclaimed tongue-speaking and spiritual Christians. The reason for this is the cunning deception employed by this work of the flesh. One reason this deception is effective in the lives of Christians is that the definition given to it by the Greek and English dictionary respectively are often taken at face value by many Christians. In this study, we will understand idolatry, beyond the face-value understanding many have of it. The word idolatry is from the Greek word "εἰδωλολατρεία:  eidōlolatreia"  and Thayer defines it as the worship of false gods, idolatry.● Of the formal sacrificial feats held in honor of false gods &, ● Of avarice, as worship of Mammon. The English dictionary defines idolatry as the worship of a picture or object as a god. Most times, when Christians hear of idolatry our focus goes straight to false gods, our definition of a false god is a deity other than Yahweh. Also, when we think of false gods what comes to our minds are images, of the devil and demons. Although this understanding is not incorrect, it is incomplete. This incomplete understanding has kept many Christians ignorant of the truth that idolatry goes beyond images, the devil, and demons. For an adequate understanding of idolatry to be gotten, the focus must first be removed from the object of worship and placed on worship itself,  afterward focused back on the object of worship. Two definitions given by the Merriam-Webster dictionary for worship are; ● Excessive admiration for someone ● Extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem Thus, from the definitions of worship above we can understand that; ● Idolatry is excessive admiration for someone, which includes self and others. So when an individual admires himself/herself or anyone else excessively, he or she is practicing  Idolatry. Hero worship, and excessive admiration for a spouse, family member, friend, loved one or relative are all idolatry. ● Idolatry is extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem. So when an individual gives extravagant respect, admiration, or devotion to a career, practice, object, physical relationship, spiritual relationship with beings other than Yahweh and the list goes on, He or she is practicing idolatry. As followers of Jesus when we excessively admire someone or give extravagant respect, admiration, or devotion to anything or being other than Jesus, we commit idolatry.  Prayer: May we depend on the Holy Spirit to help us worship Yahweh alone in Jesus' name.   Listen now to this episode.                  Compiled by Chimdi M.
