Welcome to episode 3 of #UpYourConfidence. In this episode, we are continuing the conversation about topics that help us UpYourConfidence every day. We are going to unpack what is tone policing. I am going to talk about this subject because I have personally experienced tone policing in all areas of my life all my adult life. Here are the main points I discuss in this episode:
Tone policing is a conversational tactic that dismisses the ideas being communicated when they are perceived to be delivered in an angry, frustrated, sad, fearful, or otherwise emotionally charged manner, according to Dictionary.com
I close the episode with a quote by the late Rep John Lewis “Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble….. Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe.”
Thank you for listening, join our Facebook page to continue the conversation and I really want to hear your feedback and especially your experiences around tone policing.
