BRANCHES OF THEOLOGY
1. LOGOS AS DOCTRINE:
- Logos = Thought, Word Reasoning, Doctrine, Study, (John 1:1).
- Ology = The Doctrine Or Study Of….
2. SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY:
a. Theology – The Doctrine Of God.
- Note: In The Middle Ages Theology Was Queen Of The Sciences.
- Note: Many Major Universities Were First Seminaries.
- Theos = God & Logos = Doctrine, (Gen. 1:1).
- God As Creator, Father, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Ubiquitous etc.
b. Pneumatology – The Doctrine Of The Spirit.
- Pneuma = Spirit & Logos = Doctrine.
- Old Testament Pneumatology, (Gen. 1:.2)
- New Testament Pneumatology, (Acts 2:4).
c. Hamartiology – The Doctrine Of Sin.
- Hamartia = Miss The Mark & Logos = Doctrine.
- Sin As Principle & Power, (Gen. 2:17).
- Sin As Evil Of Choice, (Rom. 3:23).
d. Christology – The Doctrine Of Christ.
- Christos = Anointed One & Logos = Doctrine, (Matt. 16:13).
- Ontological Christology = Who He Is, (Person).
- Functional Christology = What He Does, (Work).
e. Soteriology – The Doctrine Of Salvation.
- Soteria = Rescue & Logos = Doctrine, (Acts 2:21).
f. Ecclesiology – The Doctrine Of The Church:
- Ecclesia = Called Out & Logos = Doctrine.
- Church Is The Community Of The Called Out.
- Old Testament Ecclesia, (Acts 7:38).
- New Testament Ecclesia, (Matt. 16:18).
g. Eschatology – The Doctrine Of The End:
- Eschaton = Last Things & Logos = Doctrine, (Matt. 24:3).
- Rapture, Tribulation, Millennium & Judgment As Eschatology.
