WELCOME BACKKKKKKKK to another episode of thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out. I’m so excited for you all to hear this episode. Can I just say...I’m so happy to say this is episode; this is episode FOURTEEN!!!! Let me relish in this moment because it’s been a rollercoaster ride of emotions from being vulnerable and an open book to an extent. So thank you all for getting on this ride with me. I want to dedicate this episode to the homie Paul Cooley, while in Mexico recording this episode I received news that he had passed away. “Life is a one time offer…use it well” is my favorite saying and Paul lived true to that. To hear his voice, his laughter and his thoughts you can re-listen to ep. 8 it’s a man’s world part 1 and 2; where he blessed m show with his truth. You will always be with us Paul!!!!! #LongLivePCool
On this episode I traveled to Mexico (you will hear them partying outside as well as experience some static—SORRY) to help my friend Tannis celebrate her 40th birthday. On this trip, I met a group of dynamic women in their forties ya'll and we had so many conversations about life, love and everything in between. It was only right to invite them on the podcast to shed light and wisdom to the thirtyish crowd. The episode made me emotional by the end of it, so you just may need some tissue on this one. Don’t waste your good years (6:35), forgive yourself (15:40), marriage is a mirror and sometimes you don’t like what you see (23:50), cultivate your relationship with God (37:55), does sex get greater later? (41:00) don’t worry about your FUPAS ladies (44:16 ), sex starts way before the bedroom (49:40), celibacy anyone (52:52), navigating your identity outside of kids and marriage (56:20), your village is essential (1:04:06), turning into your mother (1:13:30), learning from your child(ren) (1:22:25), when you pour so much into others, will you have anything left for your own? (1:25:00), approaching difficult conversations (1:31:00) and we wrap it up with, What’s Next? Finding more in your forties (1:39:15). As I round out the episode I start to get emotional about my struggle with the stillness of 2020…the ladies speak life into me and that’s the power of womanhood.
S/O to the Mexico Crew Tannis, Bre’Ann, Stephanie, Wanda, Danielle, Aliya, Tiffany and Dwanna!!!!
