So one of my clients was being bullied and as part of that bully she is told that she is ugly. Many times others around her like parents and family members would tell her she is beautiful. Many people’s reaction to those who believe poorly of themselves is to tell them the opposite. How does this work in life?

Many times people will disregard information that is contrary to the belief they hold. As an example have you ever looked for something,  you knew or were told where to find it and yet  you were staring right at it and can’t see it? That is due to the brain and how it is set up to work. Your brain has what is called a “gamma switch”. The job of this switch is to block out information that doesn’t fit our viewpoint.

Have you heard a radio that jumps back and forth between two stations when it is tuned in to a frequency that is midway between two stations? You can often get small snippets of the song playing  on each and it goes back and forth. Your mind can also change wavelengths moving form faster ones to slower ones. Your cells tune into those wavelengths. This switch can keep you from recognizing input. Because it is out of the wavelength that our brain is tuned too. So we can tell people things that they cannot see. Telling a person good things about them if they are not in that wavelength does little good.

Staying on the right frequency is the only way to really hear what you’re after. In much the sameway, the brain’s nerve cells are able to “tune in” to the right station to get exactly the information theyneed,” says researcher Laura Colgin.

So how do we help people to change their thought frequency?

Let’s look at four:

  1. List your thoughts, write them down. What are the thoughts? Thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are closely linked. What you feel, what you think, and how you behave come from the frequency of you are in. If you change the frequency of either your thoughts, beliefs or actions, it will change the other two. You will have only one frequency in your body at once most of the time.
  2. Explore your thoughts, Always question the ways your thoughts proceed and question the beliefs’ you come from your thoughts. You can use the feelings and the thoughts they invoke as a gauge. So back to our example, if others say you are “ugly” if you accept that belief, how does it feel when you think that way? Is there any information that is different to the information they provide?
  3. Now that you have a list, take it and develop how your list of thoughts develop patterns. As these patterns become ingrained and they turn into core beliefs. That is good news, it means if you want to reprogram your mind, you can. It is as simple as changing the patterns of thoughts. This is not necessarily easy but it is as simple as changing your patterns of thinking.
  4. Determine the outcomes of your thoughts. How do your thoughts make you feel, what actions follow which thoughts. If your thoughts don’t have the desired outcome change your thinking. You can change your frequency.
