Alright so today I want to to talk about or to introduce this subject with this poem. It is called “The Bridge Builder” by Will Allen Dromgoole.

An old man going a lone highway,

Came, at the evening cold and gray

To a Chasm vast and deep and wide.

Through which was flowing a sullen tide

The old man crossed on the twilight dim,

The Sullen stream had no fear for him

But he turned when safe on the other side

And built a bridge to span the tide

“Old man,” said a fellow Pilgrim near.

“You're wasting your strength with building here;

Your journey will end with the ending day,

And you will again you will you'll never again pass this way;

You've cross the chasm, deep and wide,

Why build this bridge at evening eventide?”

The Builder lifted his old gray head;

“Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said

“There followed after me to-day

A youth whose feet must pass this way.

This chasm that has been as naught to me

To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be;

He too must cross in the twilight dim;

Good friend, I am building this bridge for him.

So I have a problem I think of myself and I think pretty highly of myself at times. I sometimes think I'm better than other people around me. I know more, or that my ideas are better, or any of those types of things. I think of myself sometimes rather than thinking of other people. I don't always know what other people have been through. I don't always understand why they feel the way they feel. I am often able to judge them despite not knowing these things. I can say that “I know better,” “They are wrong in thinking this way,” “that that doesn't make any sense,” or “that's not how life is rigged.” There are all kinds of excuses that I can come up with as to why I'm right. Whether or not I am right doesn't really matter, because what does matter is the fac that I feel like my action, or my beliefs, are better, or stronger. So it can be a problem because when we don't see what other people go through, or don't understand what other people have to have experienced. I know that there are times when I am difficult. There are times when I am wrong, there are times when I am full of myself. So today, here and now I'm going to commit to be more thoughtful of other people and to be able to see more of what they experience, rather than concentrate on my experience that's what I'm going to do
