Did you know chronic stress is linked to the six leading causes of death; heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, psoriasis of the liver, and suicide. More than 75% of all Physicians office visits are for stress-related illness and complaints. Chronic stress affects your brain, suppresses your thyroid, causes blood sugar imbalances, decreases bone density and muscle tissue, raises blood pressure, reduces your immunity and ability to heal, and if that is not enough it also increases fat deposits around your abdomen. Unless stress isn’t a problem for you (superman or women) you'll want to pay attention to this issue Because you might die or you might just live miserably, fat, dumb, and ugly. So how you handle stress is very important. Do you have the right tools to deal with stress? Do I have your attention?
Let's go over a couple of ways to master and conquer the negative side of stress. Have you ever been incredibly stressed out about something and then done it and after it was over wondered why in the heck you got so worked up? For example learning to ride a bike. What is the difference between one person finding an action stressful and another person finds the action joyous. The answer is nothing, there is nothing different about the thing. Don't be fooled any longer.
The difference between positive and negative stress are just the illusions you create around both. This is the shocking and harsh truth: our natural animal responses to stress are created by an illusion that you create. Hear me I want to be clear here, I'm not saying that your feelings and experiences are not real. I get that you might feel and actually might be very stressed and worried. I'm simply suggesting that what you are feeling and experiencing is because of the illusion your mind has made up about the action. That illusion is not real, once your mind realizes that is not real, neither will be the stress. Neither the event or circumstance surrounding it cause the emotions. Despite the label you have given them, in the grand scheme of things they just are. There is no good or bad, it is just an illusion created by the opinion you or others hold and accept. This is how one person is terrified of heights, another finds it elating and blissful. Do you jump from an airplane, hang glide, or rock climb, or sit in fear at the edge? Do you feel the ocean is tranquil and invigorating? If so you will dive, surf or swim in it. You and someone else can sit at the top of a cliff side by side at the same height, you can be in the ocean and feel the same motion. The real difference is just your opinion. It is just how you think about it. Changing your opinion can literally change your emotions. This can eliminate the negative effect on you immediately.
Why do we then feel the stress and fear and continually feel these over the top emotions? I get that this sounds crazy, but it's human to love the pain of your emotion. We wear it as a badge of courage. It helps us to feel alive. Why do you go to see a horror flick? It causes fear in the body right? We like to feel that. But the important question is how is the fear serving us. Does it move us to get things done feel good? Does it incapacitate us? Does it make us feel bad, forget things, and make it tough to relax?
