In Kanji the meaning of “busy” is “to lose your heart” 忙しい(いそがしい) I’m certain all of you have you have said “I’m too busy” at some point. For many people that is a way of life. It is a badge of honor, It gives meaning and importance to the lives of most regular people. What is it that you mean when you say it? I see people that use being busy as an excuse to stay where they are and keep doing what they want to do.

Have you ever tracked your time and accounted for every hour or do you find yourself wondering where the last hour went? Microsoft Changed the world with “Windows” The name we have proven over time to be very correct as now there are multiple organizations and people who have a window into your life. Windows that reach into your life and target your attention. Ever been in the middle of work or something else got a buzz from your phone, picked it up, seen the alert and spent the next 20 mins or more scrolling through your feed? Was that really a “busy” time? How many times a day does that happen? That is one of the windows that was Vaporized your time. How much of an invasion is social media in your life? Including the five minutes it traps here and then ten minutes there. After dinner does the TV come on every night? Does it capture you till you're asleep? That is the average so if that is the case for you you are in good company.

You know I have had many issues with being busy. I am always running, always doing something. I work 10 to 12 hours a day and have done that as long as I can remember. My boys heard this a lot. It was my excuse to not have to play the video game with them. It was my response way too often and I think they learned that things to do are more important than them. That was not what I intended to teach them, but intentions didn’t change my actions. It is not like this is a new problem. I mean Harry Chapin released the song Cat’s in the Cradle in 1974 and it explains it quite well.

But in the interview I shared with you yesterday with Steve Harvey in episode 109. If you want to be extraordinary you have to do extra. See we each have the same number of hours each day the only thing that changes is how we choose to spend it. Both you and Elon Musk have the same number of hours in a day. Do you accomplish the same number and the same high levels of tasks? Successful people have learned that doing things quickly that should not be done at all is not a good use of their time. Normal folks are looking for ways to speed up doing non essential things. The most mind blowing thing you can do is to spend all of your time on those high importance and high urgency tasks. It will be life changing. Those who have an Amazing life make sure their families are in the high importance high urgency quadrant.

How does the tragic line "too busy" keep you from having an "Amazing Life?"

How long will you continue to cripple your life by being busy?

When you look back on your life will it be with joy and a sense of accomplishment or will it be a sense of regret for not living to your amazing potential?
