It’s not genetic, It is an approach to life.

It is through a mindful process that we gain understanding of the internal and external influences that shape us.

Next, don’t mix up cause with effects.

Most people believe, for example, that confidence is a cause of success. But it is actually the opposite that has been proven to be true. The studies show that confidence is a byproduct of positive choices. So we need to find out what works for us and then continue to make the same positive choices. Once you find those positive things then just rinse and repeat. We selectively see and attend to what we believe and accept as true. As Dan Sullivan  stated, “Our eyes only see and our ears only hear what our brain is looking for.”  Our behaviors match our personal standards and expectations. In his book Letting Go, Dr. David Hawkins explains:

“The unconscious will allow us to have only what we believe we deserve. The more we hang on to our negativity and small self-image that results, the less we think we deserve…

If we have a small view of ourselves, then what we deserve is poverty. And our unconscious will see to it that we have that…”

So how do we get past these issues? How do we overcome the subconscious and get past the limiting beliefs that we have?

  1. Question your beliefs: If you believe you are fixed give yourself the option of being fluid. Say things like “ in the past I didn’t grow or see myself as strong. But I am willing to look at that in the future and see if there are strengths I have that I missed before.”
  2. Question the expectations of those around you. Look inward to see how they shape you.
  3. Your brain is highly Malleable. It is made to learn all of our lives. Use it!

    1. Take time each day to learn
    2. Learn how to learn quickly
    3. Develop habits and routines that cause you to learn.
    4. Apply what you learn even when uncomfortable.
    5. Teach what you learn

Learning is about becoming adaptive and flexible. It is about connections the more connections you create the faster you will be able to learn. Learn things that make you better and the rinse and repeat. Listen to things that help you improve your life, then rinse and repeat. Be here with me next time to rinse and repeat.

Now I want to let you know how much I appreciate each of you spending your time with me today. I think of you each day. I get you. You are a big part of my life and I’m glad you are here.
