I’ve heard a number of people talk about Imposter syndrome which this is part of. It all comes back to the thought that “I am not good enough.” I don’t care if you are president of a country, a CEO, or a janitor. You deal with this on some level, right? Maybe yours is the subgroup of the Perfectionist, the Superwoman/man, the Natural Genius, the Soloist, or the Expert. Proposed by DR. Valerie Young in her book. These feelings are typical feelings even for high achievers.
So if you feel this way over 70% of others also report feeling this way so you are in good company. But if you are feeling this way what do you do how do you overcome it?
There are times when I question whether or not I have what it takes to coach people or produce this podcast. I often find myself feeling like an imposter. I have struggled with the superman issue. I look at others and think that they are better or know more than I do. I also feel like I have to be better to be a coach. This is something that I work on. I do have these thoughts. I look at them and realize these thoughts are and It really doesn’t matter if these are the things I am feeling. I can act anyways. I can put out my podcast even when it is a struggle. I can talk to mentors and rely on what they see in me. I can recognize the training and experience I have accumulated. Then I just have to act.
