So Paris Hilton has been through many things.  She states “I was having really severe nightmares,” Hilton told Vanity Fair. Paris stated “I was kidnapped and got sent away to a school in Utah... There were just these two big men coming into my room in the middle of the night, literally grabbing me and carrying me from my bed. I thought that this was like something from the movie Taken.” Hilton claims that what happened at Provo was even worse; that staff inflicted verbal, mental, emotional, and physical abuse on her—even punishing her with up to 20 hours of solitary confinement. After making it out of the school A boyfriend made a sex tape with her and released it without her knowledge or consent. She was then labeled and made out to be a bad person. Paris was a long line of targets wrongfully blamed. Because of the abuse she was unable to speak out and plagued by lifelong trust issues. She has now found herself and is speaking out. Not only for herself but for others that are being abused. She has become strong and is able to overcome her past.

Paris had developed a character to hide behind. This was a protection against all those who had traumatized her. She became this Barbie doll, Disney princess, with this perfect life just so she wouldn't have to think about all the horrible things she had gone through.  She has now created a documentary “This is Paris” telling her secrets and overcoming her past. In the film, Hilton even drops her infamous baby voice—revealing how she intentionally caricatured herself, using her “Paris Hilton” persona as a costume and means to keep the world at a distance. Many of us have been hurt and we don’t let in the world. We wear a mask to hide who we are as we don’t think we will be accepted. But like Paris until we take off the masks and uncover the secrets we too will continue to suffer from the trauma.

Paris gives advice on how to be happy and strong. She stated there are much more important things in life and you should not base your happiness or self worth based upon other people's opinions of you, especially strangers. Do not put so much value on that because there's so much more to life than what others think. You want to learn how to overcome the opinions of others. You will still see some nasty comments and they may affect you, or you can choose to not be affected by them. Paris states “I used to cry all the time and be so upset but then I just realized that these people were wasting my time, obviously they have no life and they're not happy with themselves. That's why they spend their time trying to tear down others.”

You, like Paris, are stronger than you believe you are. You can overcome things that you don’t believe you can. If you put your mind to it and set up a path and move down it. You will soon find the goal you sought after is already in your grasp. Family is everything even if there are issues with your family they are important. Shutting family out shuts out a part of you and that doesn’t keep you open or happy. Forgiveness is essential to a family. Keep your family close!
