Steve Harvey: Comedian, Talk/Game show host, Motivational speaker, said “behind every moment of adversity in your life there is a blessing and a lesson, every moment of adversity has those two things. Pain always leaves a gift.” Steve has been an example to me. He is a class act! He has been one that has overcome a great deal in his life. He talks about his grandfather being born a slave. Grandpa was a slave till he was 12. His family was poor, His father he said was the only one that believed in him. Steve talked about living in his car for three years starting in 1985. This man has built an amazing life and has done a lot to pass it on to others.
He has such an unique view on life. He was talking about covid and the whole world having the exact same problem. He talks about the things this world is going through and he said “When a door gets shut, all you gotta do is walk up the hall, There’s more doors.”
How many of us live our lives in expectation of wonderful things happening? I know you have been through tough stuff. Maybe you like to compare your stuff to his and maybe your situation has been worse. But I’m betting with the billions of stories out there that there are stories that are worse than yours. But why is it that we compare our stories?
Many of these Motivational thoughts come from the stage of Family Feud while the audience is there and the set is being worked on. Steve instead of calling it break time blesses the audience with his life experience. Steve says he often asked if he could go back to any period in his life. What time would he go back to? His answer was “I ain’t ever had it this good. This is the best my life has ever been.” I am 63 years old and I don’t want to be the idiot I was at 25. He talks about 2020 and the things that we are going through but those are not the worst thing to happen. He mentioned losing Kobe and they were friends he said but that was nothing to loving my mom. This is not an easy time but it is not the toughest he has gone through. He wouldn’t go back to any other time.
He talks about quitting and wanting something. “Whatever you are trying to accomplish, If you quit there is no possibility, there is no chance of it popping back up again or coming back later. Quitting is guaranteed failure. When you're trying you're going to fail.” He talks about having something so big that it drives you to continue . It has to be a huge dream for you to put in the effort that is required to make it happen. What is your big dream, what is your idea of an amazing life. It will not be the same as mine or Steve’s. I hope you’ll get on the Facebook page and share with me your dream so that I can share the trip with you. In my life I do have a dream one that I have worked on over and over, it has not come quick. But I have not given up. I have not quit. It is so big that I keep showing up. I keep working on it. It gets me up early ready to get started. And I keep at it till late in the evening. What keeps you going?
