Sharna Knowles is an author and pastor who wrote the daily devotional “30 Days in the Word,” to inspire people to grow in their faith and share tips to dig deeper into the word and prayer. Sharna’s faith journey started from childhood in Kingston Jamaica, when she was baptized as a youth and loved the things of the lord. When she grew up and and became a teenager she went astray but and had to deal with many challenges including her grandmother passing away and then her mother immigrated to Canada. During her late teens, she joined her mother in Canada. She also decided to turn back to her faith after being invited to church. She said a pivotal moment the helped her to turn back was hearing a sermon at the church where the pastor told her and the rest of the congregation to “seek ye first the kingdom of god”. She took this message to heart and leaned more on the lord even getting involved in church as an usher/greeter, then becoming a Sunday school teacher, working in the kitchen, doing outreach ministries and lots of work behind the scenes. All of the roles trained her and prepared her for god’s calling on her life to serve in Ministry years later as an author and pastor.
Sharna encourages people to overcome fear during difficult times by believing in Jesus as your personal saviour and to get connected back to the lord through the confession of sins, find peace, prayer and give thanks to him. Trust in the lord every day, even when your are not necessarily feeling positive, but to lean not on our own understanding. She also advises us to read the word and to stay connected and to fellowship with your church community to grow with and encourage each other.
Since she was 27 years old she wanted to write a book about her life’s journey but in February 2020 she was inspired to write the devotional, after going to conference by Pastor Toure Roberts, where she heard that she needed a destiny connector and a book to get to her next level in faith. That moment and through the holy spirit she decided to begin writing her book which was published in April 2021. One of the most important lessons she learned through this process was to refuse to quit. You will never produce if you quit. Continue to pray and move forward.
