Description

Bold. Fearless. Truth Teller. Visionary. Compassionate. These are just a few of the words used to describe Trinity Washington University’s president Patricia McGuire. As president since 1989, Pat McGuire is largely credited with successfully transitioning the institution from one that primarily served elites and was on the verge of collapse to one that today primarily caters to a predominantly Black and Latina female student body, One of the longest serving college presidents in America, McGuire has used her position and her bold, fearless voice, to help elevate the needs of her students as a priority, recently using federal pandemic rescue funds to clear their tuition and cover transportation, books and child care needs, earning her and TWU considerable national attention.
In this episode of IngenioUs, President McGuire speaks candidly about how she led the transformation of Trinity, the leadership principles that she has learned, and advice she has for other leaders, as they're looking to lead their organizations through transformation and why she believes women’s colleges are more important than ever.
