Hello everyone, happy Wednesday, and welcome to Noles News Now, the latest in Florida State Seminoles sports, brought to you by Tomahawk Nation. I’m your host Perry Kostidakis — let’s jump right in.
The big news of the day — a move that’s been predicted for a bit and finally came into fruition — on Tuesday, four-star quarterback Chris Parson decided to reopen his recruitment, decommitting from the Seminoles. Parson, who had been committed to Florida State for just under a year, said he had long coveted playing in Tallahassee but needed to make a move that assured his future — it’s been reported and confirmed by his father that he wasn’t interested in being part of a two-quarterback class.
FSU has been extremely open about the fact that it wants two quarterbacks — it seems that they were hoping that Parson would want to be part of that plan, but as soon as fellow four-star and Elite 11 quarterback Brock Glenn began to receive crystal balls to FSU, the writing was on the wall.
It’s a temporary hit in terms of PR, given the news of Desmond Ricks's claims of FSU cutting off contact getting plenty of traction with disgruntled fans and gleeful rivals, but overall, FSU has been doing a lot of good on the trail. Four-star, blue-chip NFL talent Lucas Simmons committed to FSU on Monday — if you haven’t, check out the Florida State of Recruiting that dropped that talks about Simmons’ game and who else might be joining #Tribe23.
In this day in conference realignment rumors, the Dallas Morning News is reporting that SMU has been in discussions with the Big 12, the ACC, and the Pac-12. While that sounds cool if you were playing NCAA 13, it really doesn’t do too much to add to the value of the conference, which is the main issue plaguing FSU and the rest of the ACC right now as the era of megaconferences looms closer and closer.
Outside of that, it’s been a relatively quiet week with summer in full swing. Make sure you’re keeping posted to TomahawkNation.com for all the latest in FSU sports — not only can you find quick updates on everything FSU, but we’ve got plenty of deep-dive content and conversation with community popping.
Thank you again for listening, and we’ll see you next time.
