In this episode, Annie talks about her journey into Clean Beauty and how, while at PopSugar, she worked on a 90 day “beauty cleanse” project complete with interviews with beauty industry experts and representatives from the FDA. What she learned affected her deeply. She made some immediate changes in her beauty routine and felt a profound responsibility to educate the public and decided to launch the Safe Makeup Project website.
In 2016, while pregnant, she learned that certain products used by an expectant mother can affect her child later in life (allergies, skin conditions). Her drive for more Clean Beauty education strengthened and her goal for this site, is for it to become not only a trusted and educational resource, but a Clean Beauty community.
