"It's just about knowing that you have value as a person regardless of how you look and how other people see you." -Fern Cooke

This week, we take the time to discuss a common struggle amongst many teenagers and young adults, body image and learning to love yourself. After defining our terms and discussing what body positivity is, we invite Fern Cooke to come and share her story of activism, pride, and love. Fern Cooke is based in Manchester, U.K., and she spends her time creating artwork on her body that spreads messages promoting body positivity, environmentalism, LGBTQ+ rights and equality for all. We discuss injustices that many young women face, in addition to her own personal story. We are honored that Fern took the time to speak with us, and we are incredibly thankful for the messages she spreads. You can find her website, which includes her virtual portfolio and Instagram handle linked below. After our interview with Fern, we reflect on her words by sharing our personal struggles with body image, in addition to discussing media portrayal of bodies online. Throughout the episode we emphasize that there is no "perfect" body type, and the first step in being able to help others is to conquer your struggles and learn to love yourself first.

Love,

Jackie and Hannah
