Welcome back to Dive Right In with Jackie and Hannah! For this week's episode, we kick off our episode by highlighting our own Jewish culture and talking a little bit about the holiday of Passover. There's a saying that goes "In each generation, we have to see ourselves as if we personally went free from Egypt". Keeping this spirit of Yetziat Mitzrayim alive, we break the ice by talking about things we're hoping to rid ourselves of in the coming months. Whether you are Jewish or not, this is an interesting question to think about, and we look forward to hearing your answers! Continuing with this idea of freedom, we jump into our main topic for the week starting with discussing the drastic increase of hate crimes and gun violence in our society. We discuss our frustrations with the current police system and talk about the importance of mental health. With a conversation centering on why lawmakers need to allocate more funding to mental health resources, we talk about the moral implications of weaponry and taking a stand against gun violence. We move into breaking down different types of gun violence and discussing what actions we can take to put an end to these horrific acts. Ending on a positive note, we highlight President Joe Biden's plan to implement more background checks, buyback programs, and take steps towards ending this violence.
