Meal plans are not the answer.
When I start working with a new client, they often ask me “am I going to get a meal plan?”
To which I reply, “You are going to write your own meal plan.”
One of the first things we work on is learning how to track calories accurately using a food scale and coming up with 4 full days of eating that fit their goals based on what we discuss.
These 4 days will include snacks, treats, eating out at restaurants, etc..
I want these meals to be as close to what they normally eat, that way we are not shaking their whole world upside down right off the bat.
Some of my clients eat McDonald’s from time to time.
Some of my clients eat nothing but whole, unprocessed foods.
They eat the way that makes them feel good.
Food is not just fuel.
Food is culture.
Food is celebration.
Food is family.
So Suzy from GNC has good intentions writing you that meal plan, but not everyone is looking to eat brown rice and tilapia the rest of their life.
