In 2018 Filipino writer/director Erik Matti produced an action film that also served as social commentary on his government’s anti drug policy entitled BuyBust. Some say it’s a low octane version of The Raid while others counter its a high impact criticism of President Duterte’s Drug War. Either way I think it’s further proof that the magic of Asian cinema is no longer limited to just Hong Kong.
