From the UK this calisthenics athlete and trainer helps you to improve your health through bodyweight movement and eating more plants. In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Conner Tyson shares with us his story of how he got into Calisthenics and coaching people in his online academy.

Connor speaks highly about the calisthenics community, the way people are open to learn and really lift each other up makes it a very relaxed atmosphere for people from every level.

The benefits of Calisthenic build on more areas of fitness at the same time. It creates more balance and core control, focused on combinations of movements that use muscle groups in unison with each other. Instead of isolating single muscle groups which is often the case with more traditional ways of training in a gym.

So where do you start?

With calisthenics, it’s all about investing time in learning the basic movements and getting creative.

The more you learn the more you understand which leads to much better results over time.

Start with basic movements that require core strength, like planks, hangs, press-ups, and knee raises and built your way up from there.

The Main Obstacles that Conner sees are often related to going to far ahead for the level they are,

or lacking the confidence to try something new.

If you do the same workout over and over you probably not make any progress. But if you challenge yourself and change it up you will get most likely progress a lot quicker.

Like with anything in life if you start small you will see results.

Willpower alone is not good enough to create a new habit, you need to make it super easy

Don’t go all in at once because you will not be able to stick to it. Build it up over time instead.

Don’t get discouraged if you miss a day or a week. Just start again, try your best, stay as consistent as you can and you will see the results from it.

Focus on the bigger picture, not just training but also flexibility, mobility, and what you eat to make up a huge part of the actual result.

Conner remembers us that it is always Progress over perfection. So just keep on going and Do something today that you didn’t do yesterday.
