On this week's episode Brad speaks to the benefit of implementing meal planning into your weekly nutritional planning. This can help with losing weight, improving nutrient density within your meals, improving recovery, building muscle, and addressing any comorbidities that science has shown can be improved through diet (high cholesterol, diabetes). It also can help you to plan for late evenings, sporting events, and any other activities you have throughout the week without sacrificing good nutrients that will fuel your body in the most optimal manner.
Brad speaks to beginning your planning for the next week on a Friday, shopping on Saturday, and meal prepping for an hour on Sunday to help organize your week. It doesn't have to follow exactly like that but planning ahead of time is the key and can save a lot of time and money!
4 Tips to Effective Meal Planning:
1.) Agree on how many meals you are going to eat in during the week.
2.) Shop for ingredients. (Compare ingredients you already have so you don't waste or spend without need)
3.) Prepare those ingredients.
A few things to consider when planning meals:
1.) Pick Recipes Based on Common Ingredients
2.)Cook Recipes that are staple items in your household but also plan 1 new meal.
3.) Choose meals that leave you with leftovers. Get more meals out of your time spend and save money!
4.) Cook things you really enjoy eating. This will make the meal planning process less painful. Keep it simple.
