This week we’re discussing one of the hottest shows on Netflix right now: Indian Matchmaking. From Mumbai to America, we follow marriage consultant Sima Taparia as she helps participants find true love or at the very least, someone compatible enough to marry. As South Asians we felt it was only fair that we took an in-depth look into the show, so join us as we discuss our favourite and least favourite participants and talk about the show’s more controversial subtexts: sexism, colourism, classism, and casteism. Should we be directing criticism at Sima Auntie for engaging in subtly discriminatory behaviour? What does this show say about Indian marriage culture and Indian culture as a whole? What should the audience be taking away from this show? We address all of this and more so be sure to check this episode out! Linktree: https://linktr.ee/strugglingoptimists
