Welcome to another episode of Something came from Baltimore. I am your host Tom Gouker and on the phone tonight is jazz guitarist Ken Navarro. This is Ken Navarro’s 25th solo album, titled “into the light” released on Ken’s own label Positive Records. And it is his 30th year of recording solo, two landmark achievements.
In 2018, Ken Navarro released his 24th recording called, “Music for Guitar and Orchestra” which blew out the smooth jazz format and created a symphonic soundscape.
“Into the light” has the best of both worlds, smooth jazz bangers like “Green Chile Stew” and the album title “Into the light" but it has also gas in the tank for some symphonic fun that borders on classic, soundscapes, Americana, but most it is totally Cinematic.
It is a dizzy epic of the record that really, I am mean really spans genres. It is a box of chocolates; you don’t know what you get until you bite down into it. Corona From Home Interview.
