Description

An eternal Intelligence

by Kai-Anne Clews

A pagan friend of mine, laughed at me,

For following Jesus in The Way,

She said I could attend at the shrine,

Worship Nature, and be ok.

She said the creator of all the Earth,

Lives in everything, everywhere,

That God can be found in earth, and fire and water and air.

She said that at special times,

The creator can reveal himself as a sacred animal –

She said you can sense him in clinging chimes,

And be venerated, but casual.

She said the Lord of all the Universe,

Could incarnate to any plan –

To which I replied, “But you pagans limit Him by saying He was never a man.”

It’s easier for you to limit Him to brute beasts and pagan fire –

Pretending like He’s not been quite explicit of what He from us requires.

Limiting Him to animals, keeps Him just a brute –

It keeps His messages vague, fallible and mute.

Keeping your Lord elemental, you actually try to rule over Him,

By setting this limit upon Him, you never really begin.

To stop to worship the created, as though it were the Creator –

Seeing the great nobility in a turnip, before you bow to what is greater.

I agree that Nature speaks of its Author,

In the spiral of every shell and tree –

I believe my creator spoke human words, so I could finally see –

Not vague guessing and presuming His will –

But actual teachings that enrich and instill,

More than just cycles of time and of death,

More than just alignments of East unto West –

More than just rituals to clean up the energy –

But to worship a living God, not just some effigy.
