“You have no idea what you’ve been given!”
Hissed the demon as we fought.
He tempted me with the foulest images –
Toward things I ought think not.
“Do you realize the power of a single angel, given to each human freely
Not even for sharing, given to a wretch like you.”
He smirked and did not fear me.
He laughed so shrill and violently,
Afraid I swayed upon my feet –
The demon tormented and tortured me –
With lies and smoke and heat –
A bitter cold and soaking wet and
Gigantic spiders appearing in my room –
And foul and nasty monsters
Telling me of certain doom.
I held my ground and defended myself
With the promises of scripture –
Dealing not on my own account
In dialog with the creature.
How could we ever forget a foe so fearsome and so bold –
Who lingers with us from conception till we’re very old –
No gentle thought or hint of light can ever
Soften the demons attack, but the boldness of
Light keeps them at bay – and can push their boundary back.
But they come so hot and fierce and fast.
When they sense a soul might yet pass
Through to salvation, and victory at last.
