If you met your favorite sports star,
A legend of the court,
Who's sunk more goals than anyone,
A man of a unique sort -
If then at this meeting his mama was also there,
You'd never dream to slander her,
Or sneer at her, you wouldn't dare.
You wouldn't berate the lady,
Because she couldn't score a goal,
Or run as fast, or be athletic,
No, you'd be sincere, I know...
You'd greet her very kindly,
And listen to her speak,
About when her son was little,
And growing into his full physique.
Even the angels spoke to Mary kindly,
But you out-do yourselves to boast,
Deeming her but a breeding sow,
And hating her the most.
1 Peter 4:16 says
"However, if you suffer as a Christian
Do not be ashamed,
But praise God that you bear the name."
If those who are closest to Jesus
Are mocked and do suffer,
Surely she is closest to Him,
His poor despised mother.
