Do the little things,
And you'll change the world.
For these call capital blessings,
That estrange darkness,
And make light unfurl.
Find the smallest possible task,
Do it gently, quietly, and with care,
And you'll see, true beauty at last,
Shining boldly there...
God does not despise,
These small works of human life,
He knows that they are necessary,
And that to perform them,
brings much light.
I thought I had to be lofty,
Grand in my praise of the Lord...
But He is there within me,
When I am busy with my chores.
To pray while working in the gardens,
Or to sing while making stew,
Calls down so very many pardons,
Upon others and on you...
To put in a little more effort,
To think ahead, and be kind,
To allow yourself to do this freely,
Is a good investment of your time.
Offer something small,
Maybe help to cook,
If something has gone missing,
Then offer to help them look.
You have no idea how much it can mean,
but brace yourself, happily, sometimes it's unseen.
Your efforts and attempts, but don't get bitter and cold,
You are doing these things, for the Lord alone,
Truth be told.
Give some small service,
Without thought of reward,
And you will be most pleasing,
To our sweet and humble Lord.
Just as salt as needed for
all types of food we use,
So too humility brings savor,
To very many virtues!
So salt your life
With small actions,
Small acts of love and care,
And you will grow in all that is good,
And the Lord will be with you everywhere.
